Andrew Bueno Potts is a teacher at Ocean View High School in Huntington Beach. In late October, police arrested him at his home after a 17 year-old boy reported he was assaulted by Potts in four separate incidents occurring between July and December of 2017. The report of the assaults was initially filed in July of 2018.
An Ocean View High School Function Brought Them Together
Though he was not a student there, the victim has said he met Potts at a school function hosted by the school where Potts was teaching. Potts befriended the boy and at some point, Potts allowed the him to live with him. The assaults occurred three different times in Potts’ home. The fourth assault occurred in San Francisco. In every case, Potts gave the victim alcohol and alkyl nitrate, an inhalant used to induce euphoria before each assault.
Charges Filed
Potts has been charged with a number of crimes against an individual under the age of 18 including sodomy, sex with a foreign object, oral copulation, and sexual battery. He has also been charged with harmful material sent to a minor. He is currently being held on $500,000 bail.
The Search for Other Victims
At this time, detective believe Potts may have assaulted other victims. They are working to identify those individuals, but have encouraged anyone who may have had contact with Potts to come forward.
