Despite that, the sexual abuse of students is all too common of a tragedy in the nation. multiple cases of teachers and students in appropriate relationships across the country. On September 5, another story of a teacher charged with sexual assault was released from Fox 11 in LA.
Fox reported that a high school teacher at Esteban Torres High School was arrested and charged with multiple counts of unlawful sexual intercourse, oral copulation and sexual penetration by a foreign object. If convicted, she could spend 17 years in prison.
According to the DA’s office, the teacher, Gina Murry was allegedly in a “relationship” with a 15 year old student period over the course of the summer. The teen with whom she was involved showed his classmates nude photos of her and discussed their relationship multiple times. When other teachers were made aware of the relationship, they notified the police department, which began an investigation into the behavior.
Parents in the district have been notified, and the teacher was immediately removed from the school and reassigned.
Bail was set at $250,000 when the teacher was arrested, and she posted it the same day of her arrest. She is scheduled to be arraigned at a later date.
