Rev. Angus McDonald

Angus McDonald was the first priest to be ordained for the Diocese of Fairbanks. He worked in Barrow 1966-71 and then also worked in the Baker and Portland, OR dioceses. Angus retired in 1986 and later died in December 1988 at age 65.

Two or more pending claims against McDonald were shown in bankruptcy reorganization documents for Fairbanks Diocese on 1/25/10. He was also included on the West Province Jesuits’ list on 12/7/18. It notes an allegation reported in 1957 of sexual abuse of a minor in 1956, while assigned to Loyola High School in Los Angeles, CA. McDonald was dismissed in 1957. [May have been a Jesuit seminarian at the time.] Lastly, he was included in the Anchorage archdiocese’s list on 1/16/20, where he worked 1972-73. It notes sexual misconduct with a vulnerable adult in 1976.
