Alleged Sexual Abuse of Children Particpating in Scouting America’s Explorer Program in Yuma, Arizona

For decades the Boy Scouts of America, now known as Scouting America concealed the problem of the sexual abuse of scouts by their adult leaders. In fact, it was this tragic history of sexual abuse that ultimately led to the Boy Scouts filing bankruptcy in 2020. After the Boy Scouts filed for bankruptcy, in an effort to rebrand itself, the organization changed its name to Scouting America and as part of its rebranding, accepted girls into its ranks. One part of the scouting program is the Explorer program whose participants are between the ages of 14 and 21.

Recent investigations by Phoenix radio station KJZZ in Arizona have revealed widespread abuse of children. According to the news report, earlier in the summer of 2025 a border patrol agent Ramon Marquez was charged by prosecutors with multiple counts of charges related to the sexual abuse of a minor. The female who was abused was a participant in the Customs and Border Protection Explorer Program

In the 220 cases of abuse documented in this report, nearly a quarter began on ride-alongs where this isolation was permitted Investigation finds 200-plus allegations of abuse in Scouting America program for ages 14-21.
